Most people assume that police officers and fire fighters are in the most dangerous line of work. However, you might be surprised to learn that these two professions don’t even crack the top ten most dangerous professions in the country. One reason these professions don’t make
the list is because they often have numerous safety measures in place to help minimize employee risk. Below, we list 4 of the most dangerous
occupations in California.

Construction Work

The construction industry has a higher workplace death rate than any other profession on our list. The most dangerous construction professions involve power tools, heavy materials, electricity, and cluttered work spaces. Falls actually account for the majority of construction site deaths. Although fishing is typically considered a leisure activity, it can be very dangerous if you do it for a living. Being out on the water puts these workers in direct contact with weather-related hazards that can cause devastating injuries. Fisherman have to work with sharp and heavy equipment and are also isolated from access to immediate medical help.

Commercial Driving

Auto accidents continue to be a major cause of death in the U.S. Due the amount of time that they are on the road, commercial drivers are particularly at risk for suffering serious injury, or even death. Truckers, taxi drivers, and other professionals who spend a significant amount time driving all fall into this category.
