Driving down Highway 101 can be one of the most iconic drives in the world. Especially, when one has a convertible, driving along the ocean with the top down, is one of life’s true pleasures. In fact, tourists from all over the world flock to our area of the world to experience it. Of course, though, with these scenic drives comes potential for car accidents, and unfortunately, no matter how careful we drive, sometimes, things out of our control happens. This was most assuredly the scene of a recent accident on Highway 101.

The crazy truck accident

The idea of a big rig smashing through a concrete median into oncoming traffic is an imagine we may think is straight out of a movie. But, recently, that was the case in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 in San Martin, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP stated that the semi-truck was hauling a tractor trailer, traveling southbound near San Martin Avenue early in the morning around 7:00 a.m., when the driver inexplicably smashed through the guardrail into oncoming northbound traffic. The truck accident involved multiple vehicles before the truck eventually came to a stop on a highway onramp.

After the truck accident

According to CHP, there were no major injuries as a result of the truck accident, though, there were multiple minor injuries and wrecked vehicles. The accident did not just shut down the onramp, but also all of the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near San Martin Avenue for hours. CHP had to clear the road of a significant amount of debris and vehicles before allowing motorists to continue.

Personal injury lawsuits

For San Jose, California, residents dealing with the effects of another’s negligence after a car accident, a personal injury lawsuit can help. Specifically, with the help of an attorney, a personal injury lawsuit can hold that negligent driver responsible for all of the damages they caused, included to one’s vehicle, medical expenses and pain and suffering. And, depending on the extent of those injuries (or death), one’s family may also have a case against that negligent driver. But, the first step is contacting an attorney.
